New Young Expert (YEP) for WaterWorX project Tanzania!

22 June 2020

Her name is Harma Luwinzo and she will dedicate the next to two years working for MORUWASA, our Water Operator Partnership in Morogoro, Tanzania, as part of the WaterWorX programme. WaterWorX is a partnership of public water operators to increase access to sustainable water services for 10 million people between 2017-2030.

Harma is 26 years old and completed her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering at the Ardhi University in 2018. Previously she did an internship at the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA), where she supervised site works and designed water systems. She also interned at the Kahama Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (KUWASA) where she was involved in solving technical water supply issues. She took on the full design of a water supply project for 22 villages.

Now she is ready to take the next step in her career as Young Expert within the Young Expert Programme (YEP) for the WaterWorX partnership between MORUWASA and World Waternet. Within this role, she’ll be the ‘eyes and ears of WWn on the ground’ and act as an interface and advisor between World Waternet and MORUWASA, by identifying topics for on-the-job training and capacity building to enhance the knowledge and skills of the professionals of MORUWASA. Harma will help to reduce non-revenue water, increase drinking water connections to the citizens of Morogoro, and ensure progress on sustainable organisational development, sustainable financing and integrated water management.

Harma is very keen to help reduce the high water stress of Morogoro, share her experience and learn from others, so that together, better solutions can be found to overcome the water challenges and provide sustainable water services all over Tanzania.

We give Harma a warm welcome to our team and wish her the best of luck in her new position!
