14 October 2021The 4th Global Water Operators’ Partnerships (WOPs) Congress, will take place from 18-29 October 2021. The event aims to accelerate the scaling up of effective peer-to-peer partnerships between Water Operators worldwide. This free and open event is organised by the Global Water Operators’ Partnerships Alliance (GWOPA) - a global network of public operators and their partners - led by UN-Habitat. Fighting COVID together – are utilities getting the support they need?

This session intends to capture all the most relevant and efficient operators’ responses to the effects of the pandemic such as limited access to safe WASH services, ruptures in supply chains and interruptions of services, or a decline in quality of response due to restricted or no movement of utility staff. We will share our experiences and results of the sewerage surveillance pilot in Nairobi, Kenya. Read more about this project here.
WOP Chef: Recipes for Enabling Water Operators’ Partnerships in Europe and Beyond

This session will hear practical and inspirational examples from countries and cities through Europe that are mobilizing to do WOPs. It is addressed to all stakeholders, utilities, governments, financial institutions, development partners, civil society and anyone interested in making it easier for water utilities to help their peers through WOPs. We will share how we make our WOPs happen; the challenges, best practices and enabling factors. It would be great to connect!

We are incredibly excited that our long-term partnership with the Malian water supply company (SOMAGEP SA) and the National Office of Electricity and Drinking Water of Morocco (ONEE) has been granted funding under the new EU-WOP programme. This programme is funded by the European Union and managed by UN-Habitat's GWOPA. This session will launch the 22 new WOPs that have been selected for funding under this programme due to their approach and proposed contributions to the objectives.
