Putrenovatie.nl and World Waternet join forces to provide potable water connections in Mali
29 March 2018Putrenovatie.nl donates 50 potable water connections to the people of Mali. Mali is one of the countries in which World Waternet operates. Mali is a dry and poor country, hit hard by the effects of climate change. Year after year, the country struggles to provide sufficient water to its population.
Within the WaterWorX programme, World Waternet cooperates with the public water authority Société Malienne de Gestion de l'Eau Potable (SOMAGEP) in Bamako, the country’s capital. With WaterWorX, ten Dutch drinking water companies and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs aim to provide 10 million people access to clean and safe drinking water by 2030. SOMAGEP is responsible for providing drinking water in 17 large cities in Mali. World Waternet and SOMAGEP have one ambition: connecting 5000 households to the potable water network in Mali by 2021.
Putrenovatie.nl () wants to contribute to this mission. Putrenovatie.nl renovated 25 manholes (rioolputten) using the innovative 3D-S technique as part of a complete sewer renovation in the Molenwijk in Amsterdam-North. Putrenovatie.nl donates two domestic potable water connections per manhole that has been renovated and that will be renovated in Amsterdam in the future.
